:About the department
The Foreign Relations Department of the Hevel Modi’in Regional Council was established in order to represent, initiate, lead and develop the Council’s foreign relations. The department works in cooperation with internal and external bodies, government bodies, embassies, international organizations and both Jewish and non-Jewish communities worldwide. It focuses on preserving, strengthening and deepening existing ties, while striving to develop new initiatives and the participation of local residents in promoting activities that connect the local community with the world.
:The vision
To be leading representatives of the State of Israel and of the Modi’in region in particular in the international community, while creating bridges of understanding, cooperation and friendship with Jewish and non-Jewish communities in the Diaspora.
The department aims to strengthen the sense of belonging and identity of the residents of the Modi’in region as partners in the global fabric, and to be a driving force for connecting people, cultures and shared values.
:The department’s goals
- Identity and mutual guarantee: to cultivate and deepen the Israeli and Jewish identity among the residents of the Modi’in region, while emphasizing the importance of mutual guarantee and the relationship with the Diaspora.
- Image and advocacy: to promote a positive image of the Council and Israel in the international community, while emphasizing its achievements and spreading the values of the country and the region.
- Development and growth: to develop economic, cultural and social ties that will contribute to the growth and prosperity of the council, and support for joint projects with communities and companies abroad.
- Promotion of projects and connections: to initiate, plan and carry out international projects that will strengthen the existing connections and promote the cooperation between Hevel Modi’in and international bodies, while creating new opportunities for cooperation and expanding the circle of connections in the fields of education, sports, culture, tourism and more.
:Adult delegations
- Adult delegation to Germany – the head of the council's delegation to the sister city of Ammerthal in Germany. A connecting and bonding meeting with our old friends overseas, as part of the sister city partnership. In this meeting, the participants of the delegation are exposed to the community life and culture of the members of the Ammerthal community and through interpersonal meetings together to create a bridge connecting the communities.
- Art delegation to North Macedonia – an international painting competition in which artists from the region participate. Creating friendships with painters from different countries and creating artistic collaborations aimed at strengthening interpersonal relationships through art.
- Contemporary art delegation to Romania – meeting with the Jewish community and presenting works of art by the residents of the Modi’in region at local exhibitions in Romania.
:Youth delegations
- Youth delegation to Germany – creating a bridge connecting the communities of Hevel Modi’in and Ammerthal while creating a meaningful encounter between the two groups. Mutual recognition of different cultures and values, creating a platform for meaningful discourse around leadership, community, and Israeli issues.
- Study trip to Poland – a unique study trip, which allows an in-depth understanding of the history of the Jewish people. This journey requires a lot of preparation for the experiences and visits to the extermination camps of the victims of Nazi anti-Semitism in Europe.
- Youth delegation to North Macedonia – strengthening the value and educational ties between the future generation of Israel and children, teenagers and young people from the countries of the region, while establishing a common language and discourse between the leaders of tomorrow of the countries of the region in order to deal with common challenges.
- Art delegation to Portugal – each year, a delegation from the council comes to an annual competition in Portugal. The goal is to create connections and ties with youth from different parts of the world around the subject of art.
